Inspiration
TheLexIndex : The Fashion Brand that is’ composed of designs from Alexis Stewartson. A creative who is constantly surpassing the index for herself and others. In order to create generations of individuals who bold, unphased, and never content with complacency.
For the past couple years I have been learning how to sew and rework clothing. For much of my life I lived in my cousins hand me downs and old clothes. This is where I first started my journey of what I call “ making something out of nothing” . Understanding that when items may be deemed outdated and old, value can still be found. With a little creativity and hard work, old clothing can become something brand new and unique. This is why I have decided to launch my brand called TheLexIndex. TheLexIndex’s first drop will consist of handmade jean tote bags that are all made completely out of 2nd hand clothing and sustainable materials. Each bag is one of a kind and might contain multiple patterns made from hand bleached denim. I am truly excited to introduce the world to a brand that will constantly be pushing the boundaries of art and will help make a dent in our fast fashion waste crisis.
How we wash and clean our denim
As all material used has been previously owned and reworked, TheLexIndex works very hard to ensure that all materials are washed and disinfected to the highest degree of care. This includes letting all used fabrics soak in detergent, vinegar, fabric softener, and baking soda for 24 hours. This allows all materials to be thoroughly cleaned and obtain its optimal beauty.
What is the process like
Each bag is 100 percent unique, as no bag is made with the exact same material or style. These custom denim bags are hand crafted by the CEO herself. Each tote takes an intense amount of hours to make sure that you get the absolute best product.
What we are about
TheLexIndex is a black owned business that creates items of clothing that are meant for the individuals who constantly are looking for statement pieces. TheLexIndex is a company that constantly challenges expectations and so called rules of fashion.
